Amphoe Phrom Phiram ( Thai : อำเภอ พรหมพิราม ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district) in the west of Phitsanulok Province . The Phitsanulok Province is located in the northern region of Thailand .
geography
Amphoe Phrom Phiram is located in the west of the Phitsanulok province within the basin of the Mae Nam Nan , which flows into the Mae Nam Chao Phraya . The Mae Nam Khwae Noi (Little Khwae River) also flows into the Nan here.
Neighboring districts are seen from the east clockwise from: the Amphoe Wat Bot , Mueang Phitsanulok and Bang Rakam in the province of Phitsanulok, Amphoe Kong Krailat , Mueang Sukhothai , Si Samrong and Sawankhalok the province of Sukhothai and Phichai in the province of Uttaradit .
history
In 1972 archaeologists explored the old town of Phrom Phiram and found the old city wall , foundations of chedis and celadon ceramics from Sukhothai . All of this indicated that there was an old connection route from Sukhothai to Bang Yang in the east.
King Borommatrailokanat went here with his troops to Phichai to wage war against King Tilokarat of Lan Na .
Amphoe Phrom Phiram was formed in 1895. Around 1950 the seat of the district administration was moved to the right bank of the Mae Nam Nan (Nan River) near Ban Yan Khat. After the northern line of the Thai Railroad was built, the district administration came to Ban Krap Phuang (now Ban Phrom Phiram), about 500 meters from Phrom Phiram station. The current building dates from 1976.
