Amphoe Waritchaphum ( Thai อำเภอ วาริชภูมิ ) is a district ( Amphoe - Administrative District) of the Sakon Nakhon Province . The province of Sakon Nakhon is located in the northeast region of Thailand , the so-called Isan .

geography

Amphoe Waritchaphum is located in the southwest of the province of Sakon Nakhon and, viewed from the north, borders clockwise with the Amphoe Song Dao , Sawang Daen Din , Phang Khon , Nikhom Nam Un in the Province of Sakon Nakhon, and Amphoe Wang Sam Mo in the Province of Udon Thani .

history

The Amphoe Waritchaphum was formed on April 1, 1926 as a "branch district" ( King Amphoe ) in Phanna Nikhom County . The Tambon Waritchaphum and Pla Lo, which were separated from Phanna Nikhom, as well as the Tambon Kham Bo and Nong Lat from the former district of Ban Han (today Sawang Daen Din ) belonged to the then small district . On March 10, 1953, the small district was upgraded to an amphoe.

The Thai intellectual and poet Jit Phumisak was shot in 1966 in Tambon Kham Bo, Amphoe Waritchaphum. He had previously joined the Communist Party of Thailand and went to the forested Phu Phan Mountains as part of their "rural strategy".

The district of Waritchaphum is divided into five tambon ("sub-districts" or "communities"), which are further subdivided into 71 muban ("villages").

Local administration

There are four municipalities with "small town" status ( Thesaban Tambon ) in the district:

  • Pla Lo (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล ปลา โหล ), consisting of the entire tambon Pla Lo.
  • Nong Lat (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล หนอง ลาด ), consisting of the entire Tambon Nong Lat.
  • Waritchaphum (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล วาริชภูมิ ) consists of parts of the Tambon Waritchaphum.
  • Kham Bo (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล คำ บ่อ ), consisting of the entire Tambon Kham Bo.

There are also two " Tambon Administrative Organizations " ( องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - Tambon Administrative Organizations, TAO):

  • Waritchaphum (Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล วาริชภูมิ )
  • Kho Khiao (Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล ค้อ เขียว )
