Beginnings and rapid ascent

Her interest in refereeing grew around the age of 14 when she began accompanying her father, who was an amateur referee who directed games in the region of Hortolândia , a large city in the metropolitan area of Campinas . She soon assisted him by making entries on match report sheets such as substitutions and card distribution for him. When she was 18, she jokingly asked her father if she could help him as a linesman. After flirting with volleyball for a short time, she began a professional career as a line judge with the São Paulo State Association in 1998. Already in 2001 she had her first appearance in a game of the first division of the state championship of São Paulo between SE Palmeiras and Internacional de Limeira . Shortly thereafter, she played in the game between EC Santo André and Madureira EC in the national third division, which followed in the second half of the year with SC Corinthians Paulista against Guarani FC, her first game for the Brazilian championship .

The first big highlight was their use in the final second leg of the national championship in March 2003, in which Corinthians secured the title with a 3-2 win over local rivals FC São Paulo . On June 30, 2003 she was alongside Aline Lambert linesman of the game for the national championship between Guarani FC and FC São Paulo, which was directed by Silvia Regina de Oliveira and was the first championship game with a referee team that consisted entirely of women. Silvia Regina showed eight yellows and the team refused two goals from the home team Guarani, who lost the game 0: 1, the recognition and received whistles. Videos however confirmed the correctness of the decisions. Further appearances in the finals of the state championship followed in 2004 and 2007.

She was nominated as FIFA referee early on, which allowed her to participate in the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, where she first played in the preliminary round match between Sweden and Nigeria and then in the quarter-final between the USA and Japan, which the Americans won 1-0 won, stood on the line. In both cases, Silvia Regina de Oliveira was the referee. In 2005 she officiated in the two round of 16 games for the Copa Libertadores between SE Palmeiras and Sao Paulo, in which the latter team prevailed on the way to winning the title with an overall result of 3-0 against their local rivals.

In 2006 she was in the Maracanã Stadium in Rio de Janeiro in the final first leg of the Brazilian Cup between the two domestic clubs Flamengo Rio de Janeiro and CR Vasco da Gama on the line, which Flamengo won 2-0 on the way to winning the title.

Sporting crisis and expansion of interests

A great controversy sparked her work at the end of May 2007 at the semi-final second leg of the cup competition. Botafogo FR lost 2-0 to Figueirense FC in the first leg in Florianópolis and only won 3-1 at home, leaving the club out of Rio. At the initiative of Ana Paula Oliveira, referee Sálvio Spínola Fagundes Filho denied two goals from Botafogo in that game, which was largely viewed as a wrong decision. For example, after she was exposed to strong criticism in March of that year for a goal she caused to be canceled in a game for the state championship between FC Santos and FC São Paulo, the Brazilian association suspended her for three match days of the national championship.

In 2005, the 1.73 meter tall and 60 kg line judge was at the center of a series of photos by VIP magazine , from whose readers she was in the 2005, 2006 and 2007 elections for mais gostosa do ano , the most attractive young lady of the year was chosen to be in the middle of the Top 100. In July 2007 she made herself available for a photo reportage for the Brazilian edition of Playboy . This issue with her on the cover was the seventh best-selling issue of the magazine between 2005 and 2010 with 334,277 copies. For each copy sold, she was paid a real . The referee chairman of the Confederação Brasileira de Futebol , Edson Rezende, said in this context disapprovingly that a public person should avoid certain behavior, but stated, “It is their right. It's good money. ”The referee chairman of the São Paulo Association, Marco Marinho, said that in principle it didn't bother. "If your [performance] is not affected, that's not a problem"

In connection with the promotion of the magazine and a recovery phase, Ana Paulina asked to be released from her duties as assistant referee until September 2007, which was granted. In mid-August she returned to the football field to lead a game at a U-19 tournament in Porto Seguro ( Bahia ). In September, the regular annual FIFA test to check her physical fitness - six sprints over 40 meters in 6.4 seconds and 20 sprints over 150 meters in 35 seconds with an interruption of 40 seconds each - which she failed. Inflammation of the bone on the ankle was cited as one of the reasons, along with fatigue. As a result, Ana Paulina was not used in the current championship competition.

In 2007 she joined the Communist Party of Brazil , partly because of her admiration for MP Aldo Rebelo (SP) , originally to apply for a seat in the October 2008 elections. In July 2008, however, she decided not to run. She said she still had a lot to learn.

In the Carnival of Rio 2008, Ana Paula Oliveira was planned to take part on the float of the renowned Salgueiro samba school . But after she did not take part in the last rehearsals, she was replaced at short notice by the Daniela Camões model.

In the same year she was again line judge in several games of the state championship of São Paulo. In tests to prove her physical fitness for the Brazilian championship, she was unable to achieve the required standards. Her contract as a professional arbitrator, which expired at the end of the year, was not extended.

In 2009 she was a participant in the second season of the Brazilian reality TV series A Fazenda by Rede Record - an equivalent of the German Die Farm , albeit with prominent people, where she was the first to drop out. In November 2009 she completed a course in journalism which she started in 2004.

In June 2011, the Mexican sports magazine Récord dedicated a story to her entitled La dama del futbol . In the middle of the year she tried to participate in A Fazenda , the fourth season now, but dropped out in advance. In terms of sport, Ana Paula Oliveira is officiating these days in lower-class leagues and welfare games. In December 2011 she made a contribution to the annual Futebol Solidário em Jundiaí in Jundiaí in the hinterland of São Paulo . European gonier Anderson Luiz de Carvalho "Nenê" from Paris Saint-Germain made himself available as the main attraction alongside former World Cup participant Roberto Falcão and Formula 1 driver Felipe Massa , and a total of 20 tons of food could be collected for the disadvantaged.

In February 2012 she was hired by the SBT spin-off TV Alterosa in Belo Horizonte ( MG ) and offered "female insights into the world of football" on the side of the eloquent Jaeci Carvalho in the program Alterosa no Ataque ("Altersosa in attack"). The end of their engagement there was announced in February 2014.

In May 2014 she was accepted as the first woman by the Brazilian association CBF to the management of the Escola Nacional de Arbitragem de Futebol ("National School for Football Refereeing"), where she is to serve as a link to the national associations.

Ana Paula Oliveira, who gives the Italian referee Pierluigi Collina as a role model and is also a friend of Italian cuisine, officially stated that her big dream was to participate in the 2014 World Cup.
