Career

Andrei Bashkirow began his career as a hockey player with Chimik Voskressensk , for which he made his debut in the Super League in the 1991/92 season . After a year break from ice hockey, he went to North America, where he initially spent two years in the ECHL for the Charlotte Checkers - with the free time in 1994 and 1995 in the professional inline hockey league Roller Hockey International at the Portland Rage and Sacramento River Rats Bridged - and Huntington Blizzard was active before playing for the Detroit Vipers and Las Vegas Wranglers in the International Hockey League towards the end of the 1996/97 season . The following season the winger began again in Las Vegas, as well as with the Port Huron Border Cats from the United Hockey League , but moved shortly after the start of the season within the IHL to the Fort Wayne Komets . In the 1998 NHL Entry Draft , he was finally selected in the fifth round as the 132nd player of the Canadiens de Montréal .

For the Canadiens de Montréal, Bashkirov gave three assists in 30 games in the National Hockey League between 1998 and 2001 . In his rookie year , the 1998/99 season , however, he continued to play mainly for the Fort Wayne Komets in the IHL, as well as the Fredericton Canadiens , the Montréals farm team , in the American Hockey League , in the other two seasons almost exclusively for the new AHL Canadiens farm team, the Citadelles de Québec . From 2001 to 2005 the Russian was under contract for the Lausanne Hockey Club in the Swiss National League A , before he finished the 2004/05 season in his Russian homeland with Super League participants Severstal Tscherepowez . After the end of the season, however, the national player returned to Switzerland and was there in the 2005/06 season at NLA Club Friborg-Gottéron , as well as his now relegated ex-club from Lausanne in the National League B on the ice.

After Bashkirov started the 2006/07 season again in Lausanne, he moved to the Super League after only four appearances at HK Awangard Omsk . In the following two seasons he stayed in Russia and stormed for HK MWD Balaschicha in the Super League, as well as in the 2008/09 season for HK Sibir Novosibirsk in the newly founded Continental Hockey League . Most recently, the former NHL professional ran again in Switzerland for EV Zug in the NLA and SC Langenthal in the NLB in the 2009/10 season .
