Andrew Drevo (born March 4, 1981 in Lincoln , Nebraska ) is an American basketball player . After Drevo initially played for college teams during his studies in his home country, he played as a professional in Europe, including more than three seasons in the German basketball league until 2012 . After a season in the NBA Development League (D-League) in his home country, he initially returned to northern Germany with a fixed-term contract and played for the Artland Dragons at the beginning of the 2012/13 season .

Career

During his studies he first played for the Mustangs of Morningside College in Iowa in Division II of the NCAA . There he was one of the most accurate marksmen beyond the three-point line in the history of this college team. After two years returned to his native city and studied at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln . Due to the regulations of the NCAA, he was initially not eligible to play in any championship game for a year before he was allowed to compete for the (Corn) Huskers in Division I of the NCAA from 2002 .

In his first year in Europe he played in Sweden and in 2005 won the Swedish championship with his club straight away. With just over 20 points and nearly nine rebounds , he recommended himself for the game stronger first pro game one of the mainstays of his team French League Pro A . Here he was dismissed from his club in Brest in December 2005 and moved one class lower to the Pro B in Nanterre . He stayed in Nanterre for a year and a half before the Phantoms from Braunschweig brought him to the basketball league in Germany . In Braunschweig he was one of the team's top performers and was valued by the club and coach who made him captain of the team. Surprisingly, Drevo preferred to leave the team in the summer of 2009 despite an ongoing contract. He moved to Spain in the local second division LEB Oro . However, his contract in Girona was terminated in January 2010, so that he was free for the polar bears from Bremerhaven , who immediately signed him. The polar bear was able to secure the play-off semi- finals for the German championship with a game and series decisive " buzzer beater " in the final second at the newly crowned EuroChallenge winner BG 74 Göttingen . There they were eliminated in the fifth and decisive game at home against the Skyliners Frankfurt . After another season with the Eisbären, who had no chance at the end of the 2010/11 season in the first round of the play-offs against defending champion Brose Baskets , Drevo left the club.

After Drevo did not get a new contract in Europe in 2011, he signed for one season with Iowa Energy in the D-League. For the 2012/13 season Drevo then received an initially limited two-month contract with the Dragons from the Artland community and thus returns to the German basketball league. This contract was not renewed in November 2012 by the Dragons and Drevo left the team again. He then signed a four-week contract in France with Le Mans Sarthe Basket in the top division Pro A in January . Shortly before the transfer deadline at the end of February 2013, Drevo signed a contract with his former club from Bremerhaven and returned to the Bundesliga .
