Life

Ridgway completed after visiting the Hele's School in Exeter officer training at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst (RMAS) and at St John's College of the University of Cambridge . For his services there, he received a Queen's Commendation for Valuable Service (QCVS) in 2000 and was also Companion of the Order of the Bath (CB) in 2001 . Most recently, he was in 2003 as Lieutenant General successor to Air Marshal Joe French as head of the military intelligence service DIS ( Defense Intelligence Staff ) and held this post until 2006, after which he was replaced by Air Marshal Stuart Peach . In this position he was also vice chairman of the Joint Intelligence Committee and received the 2005 award from the US Defense Intelligence Agency .

On June 14, 2006, Ridgway Air Chief Marshal John Cheshire replaced as Lieutenant Governor of Jersey . He held this post until June 30, 2011, after which General John McColl took over on September 26, 2011. During this time he was knighted in 2010 as Knight of Grace of the Order of Saint John and at the end of his term on June 11, 2011 as Knight Commander of the Order of the British Empire (KBE) and has since been named "Sir". From February 1, 2014 to January 31, 2017, he was a member of the Judicial Appointments Commission .
