Andy McDonald (born August 25, 1977 in Strathroy , Ontario ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player who played 741 games for the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim or Anaheim Ducks and St. Louis Blues in the course of his active career between 1996 and 2013 National Hockey League has contested on the position of the center . McDonald celebrated his greatest career success wearing the Anaheim Ducks jersey when he won the Stanley Cup in 2007 .
Career
McDonald first played in the Western Junior B Hockey League for the Strathroy Blades and Strathroy Rockets . In his first full season, Andy McDonald was voted Most Valuable Player of the entire season. In 1995/96 he repeated this and was also MVP of the playoff. Then McDonald went to Colgate University , where he played the following four years for the local team in the ECAC , a league in the game operations of the National Collegiate Athletic Association . Andy McDonald was named Player of the Year in the 1999/00 season.
After graduating in 2000, McDonald signed a contract with the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim as a free agent in the NHL. During the lockout of 2004/05, the Canadian played in the DEL together with Marco Sturm , Jamie Langenbrunner and Aaron Ward for ERC Ingolstadt .
In the 2006/07 season , Andy McDonald, nicknamed AndyMac , was appointed to the Western Conference All-Star Team for the first time. With the Ducks he also won the Stanley Cup for the first time in his career . After he started weakly in the 2007/08 season , the Anaheim Ducks transferred him to the St. Louis Blues on December 14, 2007 in exchange for Doug Weight , Michal Birner and a seven-round suffrage in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft . In June 2013, McDonald, who had suffered five concussions during his career, retired from active life due to the aftermath of these symptoms.
International
Andy McDonald was part of the Canadian national team at the 2002 World Cup in Sweden.
