Ann Cleeves
Ann Cleeves (* 1954 in the county of Herefordshire , Region West Midlands , England ) is a popular crime writer whose novels have been translated into more than 20 languages. In addition to Great Britain , she became particularly well known in Scandinavia and Germany .
Life
Cleeves grew up in the rural west of England , Herefordshire and North Devon . Her father was a primary school teacher. After canceling her university education she practiced temporarily various jobs as a teacher in the child care , head of a women's shelter , assistant to the Coast Guard or cook on a bird observatory from. After that, Cleeves continued her university training as a probation officer .
In his early twenties, Cleves worked for two years as a cook at the ornithological station on Fair Isle , part of the Scottish Shetland Islands . There she met her future husband Tim, an ornithologist . Shortly after their marriage, he was appointed overseer of the Hilbre Island nature reserve , in the north-western border area between England and Wales . This is where Cleeves' first series of novels about the naturalist George Palmer-Jones came about , which was not published in German .
Ann and Tim Cleeves live in West Yorkshire ; they have two daughters.
