Annie Sprinkle (real name Ellen F. Steinberg , born July 23, 1954 in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania ), grew up in Los Angeles , is an American performance artist, porn actress , author, director, television presenter and sex therapist in the field of neotantric body therapies in New York City .

Sprinkle is one of the most famous representatives of sex-positive feminism . She is a US sexual education icon. Her main focus is the demystification of the (female) body. Annie Sprinkle is the first American porn star to have successfully submitted a dissertation on the situation of sex workers in the human sexuality department at the Institute for Advanced Study of Human Sexuality in San Francisco , 1992. She also has a Bachelor of Fine Arts in photography. She has been married to Elizabeth Stephens since 2007 . According to the “ chakra color ” for the marriage theme “safety”, she was dressed in red on December 18, 2004 (for the year 2005) in an art room in Manhattan for the first time. In 2006 the ceremony was held in orange and had the theme of sexuality . The colors and themes of 2007 and 2008 were yellow for courage and green for love , in 2009 communication was symbolized with blue .

As a child, she was not particularly sexual and only lost her virginity at the age of 17. At the age of 18, Sprinkle worked as a ticket seller for Deep Throat , a cult porno from the 1970s that was confiscated on the occasion. Sprinkle was summoned to court and met director Gerard Damiano there . With him she moved to New York , where she lived for the next twenty years. From 1973 to 1993 Annie Sprinkle worked as a prostitute. In 1975, Teenage Deviate was her first pornographic film.
