Anthonique Strachan (born August 22, 1993 in Nassau ) is a Bahamian sprinter .

Athletic career

Anthonique Strachan gained her first international experience at the CARIFTA Games 2009 in Vieux-Fort , where she won the silver medal in the U17 age group in the 200-meter run in 23.95 seconds. In addition, she secured the bronze medal in the Bahamian 4 x 100 meter relay in 47.04 s. In the following year she finished fifth in the U20 age group at the CARIFTA Games in George Town in 24.57 s and secured the bronze medal in 45.59 s with the relay. Then she was at the Central America and Caribbean Junior Championships (CAC) in Santo Domingo in 24.19 s fourth over 200 meters and could not finish her final run over 400 meters. However, she won the bronze medal in the 4 x 400 meter relay in 3: 38.81 minutes. She then took part in the Junior World Championships in Moncton over 200 meters , where she was eliminated in the semifinals with 23.99 s. At the CARIFTA Games 2012 in Montego Bay , she won the 100-meter run in 11.38 s and the 200 -meter run in 23.17 s. Then she won the silver medal behind her compatriot Nivea Smith at the CAC Championships in Mayagüez in 22.90 s and secured the bronze medal behind the teams from Trinidad and Tabogo and Jamaica with the relay in 43.63 s. At the Pan American Junior Championships in Miramar , she won in 22.70 s over 200 meters and in 45.04 s in the 4 x 100 meter relay. In addition, she won bronze over 100 meters in 11.46 seconds and also in the 4-by-400-meter relay in 3: 42.61 minutes. So she qualified over 200 meters for the World Championships in Daegu , where she was eliminated in the semifinals with 23.85 s. In addition, she retired with the 4 x 100 meter relay with 50.62 s in the first round. In the following year she won the CARIFTA Games 2012 in Hamilton , where she won the gold medal in the 100 and 200 meters as well as in the 4 x 100 meter relay.
