Anton Blidh (* 14. March 1995 in Mölnlycke ) is a Swedish ice hockey player , who since May 2015, the Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League is under contract and in parallel for their farm team , the Providence Bruins , in the American Hockey League on the position the winger plays.
Career
Blidh spent his junior years in the youth department of Frölunda HC from Gothenburg . As a U20 player, the then 18-year-old made it into the squad of the first team that played in the Svenska Hockeyligan during the 2013/14 season . He was also active on loan for the Karlskrona HK in the second-rate HockeyAllsvenskan during the season. His talent finally brought him the election in the NHL Entry Draft 2013 in the sixth round in 180th position by the Boston Bruins from the National Hockey League . Nevertheless, the striker stayed in his Swedish homeland for a second year and gained more match practice in the Svenska Hockeyligan, where he was an unrestricted regular from the beginning of the 2014/15 season .
After the end of the season, Blidh was finally signed by the Bruins in May 2015 and then moved to North America in the summer. In order to get used to the North American style of play and the smaller ice rink, the Swede spent the 2015/16 season entirely in the American Hockey League . There he ran for Boston's farm team , the Providence Bruins . In 65 games, the attacker was able to collect 14 scorer points . After starting the 2016/17 game year in Providence, he was appointed to the Boston NHL squad for the first time in December 2016 and made his debut there.
International
Blidh represented his home country in the U18 Junior World Championship 2013 and the U20 Junior World Championship 2015 . With a fifth and a fourth place, the teams ended up just outside the medal ranks. The attacker was able to enter himself into the scorer list at both tournaments. While he scored a goal in five games at the U18 Junior World Championship, he contributed one goal and two assists in seven tournament games at the U20 Junior World Championship.
