Argenton-l'Église is a commune Déléguée in the French community Loretz-d'Argenton with 1,403 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Deux-Sèvres in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine .
location
Argenton-l'Église is located on the Argenton River , about 26 kilometers northeast of Bressuire . The Thouet limits the community to the east. Argenton-l'Église is surrounded by the Commune déléguée Bouillé-Loretz in the north and northwest and the neighboring municipalities
- Saint-Martin-de-Sanzay to the east and northeast,
- Sainte-Verge in the southeast,
- Thouars with Sainte-Radegonde in the south and Mauzé-Thouarsais in the south and south-west,
- Val en Vignes with Bouillé-Saint-Paul to the west.
history
In 1973 the municipality of Bagneux was attached to the municipality of Argenton-l'Église.
The municipality of Argenton-l'Église merged with Bouillé-Loretz to form the Commune nouvelle Loretz-d'Argenton on January 1, 2019 . Since then it has had the status of a Commune déléguée. The municipality of Argenton-l'Église belonged to the arrondissement of Bressuire and the canton of Le Val de Thouet (until 2015 the municipality belonged to the cantons of Argenton-les-Vallées and Thouars-2 ).
