Artjom Sergejewitsch Tschernow ( Russian Артем Сергеевич Чернов ; born April 28, 1982 in Novokuznetsk , Russian SFSR ) is a Russian ice hockey player who has been under contract with Metallurg Novokuznetsk in the Vysschaya Hockey League since 2017 .
Career
Artyom Tschernow began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the youth department of Metallurg Novokuznetsk , for whose professional team he was active in the Russian Super League from 1999 to 2001 , after having played for the second team in the third-rate Pervaya League since 1997 . During his time at Metallurg he was also selected in the NHL Entry Draft 2000 in the fifth round as the 162nd player of the Dallas Stars , for which he never played. From 2001 to 2004 the center was on the ice for Super League participants HK Awangard Omsk , where he played exclusively for the club's second team in the Pervaya League in the 2003/04 season. The 2004/05 season he started at HK Spartak Moscow in the Super League, but left the club after only six games and played in the following year and a half for HK Junost Minsk in the Belarusian Extra League . With this he won the national championship title in the 2004/05 and 2005/06 seasons . In the 2004/05 season he also played nine games for HK Junior Minsk in the Belarusian second division .
From 2006 to 2008 Chernov played for HK MWD Balaschicha in the super league. He then paused ice hockey for two years before joining the OHK Dynamo from the Continental Hockey League for the 2010/11 season. In his first year after his return to professional hockey, however, he mainly played for his farm team HK Dynamo Tver in the new second Russian division, the Wysschaja Hockey League . In the 2011/12 season he played exclusively for the KHL team of the OHK Dynamo before his contract expired in May 2012.
In August 2012 he was signed by Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod , a year later he moved to Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg within the KHL .
From May 2014 he was under contract with Atlant Moskovskaya Oblast before signing a two-year contract with Salawat Julajew Ufa a year later .
International
For Russia , Chernov took part in the U18 World Junior Championship in 2000 and the U20 World Junior Championship in 2001 . At the U18 World Cup in 2000, he and his team won the silver medal.
