Auböck + Kárász is a studio for landscape architecture based in Vienna .

history

The atelier was founded in 1987 by Maria Auböck and János Kárász. Auböck was born in Vienna as the daughter of the architect Carl Auböck . After studying architecture at the Vienna University of Technology with a focus on urban planning, she completed a postgraduate course in landscape architecture. János Kárász, who was born in Hungary, also studied architecture at the Vienna University of Technology and completed a degree in social sciences at the University of Vienna . In addition to landscape architectural planning and architecture-related outdoor spaces, the office also works in the areas of garden monument preservation and historical research, art / design, urban development and spatial planning. The atelier has realized projects in Austria, Germany, Italy, Hungary, France and Azerbaijan, as well as lectures and the like. a. held in Europe, the USA, Japan and China.

Teaching activity and functions (selection)

Maria Auböck held a visiting professorship at the Rhode Island School of Design and numerous teaching positions, including at the University of Applied Arts Vienna , since 2011 at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna , the University of Innsbruck and the Technical University of Munich and currently at the Carinthia University of Applied Sciences in Spittal / Drau. 1999–2017 she held a professorship for design in open space at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich. She is a co-opted member of DASL , Berlin, a member of the BDLA Bavaria and the BDA Bavaria and, since 2008, executive vice-president of the Central Association of Architects for Vienna, Lower Austria and Burgenland. János Kárász has taught at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences in Vienna, held visiting professorships in Rome and Moscow and worked as a UNESCO advisor in Europe and Africa. They have been holding workshops together at Corvinus University in Budapest since 2014 .
