The Auma is an approximately 34.2 kilometers long tributary of the Weida in the Greiz district in Thuringia . It rises in a wetland used by numerous ponds south-east of Linda near Neustadt an der Orla and initially flows in a north-easterly direction through Köthnitz .

In this area it is crossed by the Federal Highway 9 . Other places are Reinsdorf , Sorna, Krölpa , Muntscha , Auma , Wiebelsdorf , Wöhlsdorf , Forstwolfersdorf , Rohna , Schömberg , where it feeds the Auma dam , and Liebsdorf . In the city of Weida it flows into the Weida river of the same name .

Between Sorna and Auma, the Auma valley was used by the Triptis – Marxgrün railway line . At Reinsdorf, the Auma drains a wetland that is the northern continuation of the Plothener ponds .
