The Austrian Darts Open is a ranking tournament in darts, which is organized by the PDC . It is an event of the European Darts Tour , which is carried out as part of the PDC Pro Tour . The venue has been the Steiermarkhalle in Premstätten in Austria since 2018 . It was held for the first time in 2012. After the tournament did not take place in 2015, it was again part of the European Darts Tour in 2016 .
The current defending champion is Michael van Gerwen , who won the 2019 tournament with an 8: 7- legs final victory over Ian White .
format
The tournament will be played in a knockout system . The game mode is best of 11 legs in the first three rounds , best of 13 legs in the semi-finals and best of 15 legs in the final . Each leg is played in double-out mode.
Prize money
