The Autoput Gradiška – Banja Luka ( Bosnian / Serbian for 'Motorway Gradiška – Banja Luka') is a motorway in Bosnia and Herzegovina . The motorway has largely been completed or is under construction. The section from Čatrnja to Mahovljani was opened to traffic on November 30, 2011.

    numbering

Due to political differences between the two entities of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republika Srpska , about the number allocation of the new highways to be built, it is currently not foreseeable which number this highway will get. It is possible that the motorway is signposted as A-2, but this number is more for a west-east connection from the Croatian border near Izačić via Bihać , Jajce , Travnik , Sarajevo and Foča to Šćepan Polje on the Montenegrin border Conversation. At the beginning of February 2011, the Bosnian-Serbian politician Milorad Dodik said that the part between Gradiška and Banja Luka will be completed by June 2011. Other Bosnian politicians, on the other hand, stated that this would not mean that the above course and numbering had been agreed as A-2, but that the connection from Gradiška to Banja Luka could serve as a supplement to the actual part of the A-2 .

The motorway is currently signposted as E-661, which corresponds to the European road numbering.

    course

The motorway runs from the Croatian border at Gradiška via Mahovljani and Klašnice to Banja Luka , the capital of the Republika Srpska.

    Construction progress

The 26.5 km long section from Gradiška to Mahovljani was officially opened to traffic on November 30, 2011. The motorway currently ends at Klašnice, from there a four-lane motorway-like road (M-16) continues to Banja Luka. The Mahovljani motorway junction was opened to traffic in July, so the motorway can be used continuously.

    costs

The Gradiška - Banja Luka road project, including the four-lane expansion of the M-16, cost 320 million KM (approx. 163 million euros).
