The Berufsgenossenschaft Verkehrswirtschaft Post-Logistik Telekommunikation ( BG Verkehr ), based in Hamburg, is a commercial trade association in Germany and a statutory accident insurance company in the legal form of a public corporation . It has around 1,480 employees, almost 200,000 member companies and around 1.7 million insured persons. BG Verkehr advises and supports the affiliated entrepreneurs and their employees in the prevention of work and commuting accidents, work-related health hazards and occupational diseases and provides rehabilitation and compensation for work and commuting accidents and occupational diseases.

The ship safety department of the BG Verkehr performs tasks in the field of ship safety, the maritime medical service and in accordance with the ship equipment directive.

BG Verkehr has the capacity to be an employer . Your civil servants are federal civil servants ( § 4 BGVPLTErG).

history

BG Verkehr goes back to the Fuhrwerk-Berufsgenossenschaft, which was founded on July 1, 1886 and has its headquarters in Berlin. In 1945 it was renamed the BGF ( professional association for vehicle maintenance ) and in 1953 its headquarters were in Hamburg. On January 1, 2005 the merger with the inland shipping trade association took place under the name BGF. On January 1, 2010, BGF merged with the See-Berufsgenossenschaft and the Berufsgenossenschaft für Transport und Verkehrswirtschaft to form the new BG Verkehr.

The Accident Insurance Post and Telecom and the Employer's Liability Insurance Association for Transport and Traffic Management were incorporated into the BG Verkehr on January 1, 2016 ( Section 2 BGVPLTErG).

Locations

The seat of the headquarters of the BG Verkehr is Hamburg . There are district administrations in Hamburg, Hanover , Berlin , Dresden , Wuppertal , Wiesbaden and Munich . The Post, Postbank, Telekom division is based in Tübingen . Branch offices of the regional prevention departments are in Duisburg , Erfurt , Magdeburg , Rostock , Solingen , Darmstadt and Willstätt . The international liaison office is in Duisburg.

BG Verkehr is the professional association responsible for the transport of goods and people, waste disposal, post logistics, aviation, inland waterway transport, maritime shipping and fishing, for aviation and driving schools, towing services, funeral homes and animal husbandry as well as for financial services and telecommunications.

BG Verkehr is responsible for ( § 121 SGB ​​VII ):

  1. Types of company for which the trade association for transport and traffic management was responsible until December 31, 2015,
  2. for shipping companies (with exceptions)
  3. for the stock corporations created from the special assets of the Deutsche Bundespost ( Deutsche Post AG , Deutsche Telekom , Postbank )
