Baars is a district of the borough Apenburg-Winterfeld in Altmark Salzwedel in Saxony-Anhalt (Germany).
geography
The Altmark village of Baars, a street village with a church, is located north of Winterfeld, ten kilometers southwest of the district town of Salzwedel. The Sallenthiner Graben flows in the north and the Baarser Mühlengraben in the south. Both flow into the Purnitz river southwest of the village .
history
In 1311 Thidericus Bars was mentioned in the Halberstädtischen fief register.
The first documentary mention of Baars comes from 1364 as in villa Baarss . In the Landbuch der Mark Brandenburg from 1375 the place is listed as Barst , the von Knesebeck and the Dambeck monastery had income here.
A watermill , called Baarser Mühle or Hankensmühle , was located at the Baarser Mühlengraben to the southwest of the village . As early as 1931, the mill was no longer listed in the parish dictionary.
Incorporations
On August 1, 1973 the municipality of Baars was incorporated into the municipality of Winterfeld . On July 1, 2009, the district of Baars came to the newly founded Flecken Apenburg-Winterfeld, because on that day the municipality Altensalzwedel, the Flecken Apenburg and the municipality Winterfeld were merged to the Flecken Apenburg-Winterfeld.
