K-1 career

Badr Hari made his K-1 debut at the age of 19 when he fought Aziz Khattou on May 20, 2004 and knocked him out in the second round. Hari was also able to successfully contest his second fight when he won on April 16, 2005 against Vitali Akhramenko at the K-1 Italy Grand Prix in Milan . Almost two months later, the first defeat for Hari followed, in which he was knocked out by the German Croat Stefan Leko after 105 seconds. On November 19, 2005, the revenge against Leko followed with a knockout victory in the second round by means of a high-kick. After two premature defeats in 2006 against Peter Graham and Ruslan Karajew , Hari won six fights in a row. Those who were beaten also included his former conquerors Graham and Karajew.

On 29 September 2007 Hari reached its greatest success to date when he "K-1 World Grand Prix elimination" when in Seoul defeated Doug Viney by knockout victory in the second round and thus the first time for the taking place at year-end Qualified K-1 World Grand Prix Final in Yokohama . On his debut on December 8, 2007, Badr Hari had to give up in his first fight when he lost to the favored two-time title holder Remy Bonjasky unanimously on points.

After this disappointment, Badr Hari remained unbeaten for six fights in a row in 2008, where he was usually able to defeat his opponents prematurely. The only exception was the "K-1 World Grand Prix Elimination" when Hari met the 2.18 meter tall local hero Choi Hong-man on September 27 and benefited from an injury to the South Korean .

In the K-1-World-Grand-Prix-Finale 2008, Hari met the three-time title holder and veteran Peter Aerts in his first encounter , whom he defeated after a superior fight by breaking off in the second round. Another victory followed in the semifinals when he knocked out Errol Zimmerman with a right punch in the third round. Hari played the final fight against Remy Bonjasky, against whom he was defeated in the quarter-finals last year.

In his first appearance after his disqualification at the World Grand Prix final almost three weeks later, Hari had to admit defeat to Alistair Overeem for the fourth time in his career by a knockout. On May 16, 2009 Hari took part in the "It's Showtime" event in Amsterdam , where he won the three-time K-1 World GP Champion Semmy Schilt through K. in the fight for the "It's Showtime Heavyweight World" title . o. defeated in the first round. On September 26, Hari's 22nd victory in a K-1 fight followed when he knocked out Belarusian Zabit Samedov in the first round and thus qualified for the 2009 Grand Prix final.

As in the previous year, Badr Hari was one of the favorites of the K-1 World Grand Prix Final 2009. This already seemed to be confirmed in the opening encounter when Hari defeated Ruslan Karajew after 38 seconds by knockout. In the second fight Hari met Alistair Overeem , against whom he suffered his last defeat. Hari retaliated for his knockout loss from the previous year and this time beat Overeem by breaking off in the first round. In the final, Hari met Semmy Schilt , who in turn wanted to make amends for his knockout defeat in May. Although Hari was looking for a quick knockout again, this time he had to bow to the physical superiority of his opponent and was sent to the boards after a short time. After two more knockdowns in the first round, Hari was taken out of the fight by the referee. While Hari missed his first triumph in the Grand Prix final again, Schilt was able to put on the crown for the fourth time and draw level with the previous record holder Ernesto Hoost .

In December 2016 there was a fight against Glory Champion Rico Verhoeven , in which Hari had to be taken out of the fight due to a broken arm in the second round. On March 3, 2018, he won unanimously against Hesdy Gerges , to whom he had lost in 2010. The win against Gerges was later changed to a tie after it was revealed that Hari had tested positive for a drug test. Hari was then suspended for 19 months.
