history

The station was opened on October 1, 1894 by the Royal Bavarian State Railways with the start of suburban traffic between Nuremberg and Erlangen. Since the beginning of the 1990s, the “Modell-Eisenbahn-Club Nürnberg e. V. “his clubhouse in the former station building.

In anticipation of the ongoing construction work since 2007 for the four-track expansion of the Nuremberg - Fürth section, the stop was closed on December 10, 2006. The reason for the closure was the nearby Maximilianstraße underground station and the resulting low frequency of the stop as well as operational constraints (single-track route for the S-Bahn), which are due to the planned operating program (20-minute intervals) of the S-Bahn Line will result. The two side platforms were demolished in the course of the construction work for the two additional tracks in summer 2008.
