Nürnberg-Reichelsdorf is both a S-Bahn stop on the Nürnberg – Roth railway line and a train station on the Treuchtlingen – Nürnberg railway line . It is located in the south of Nuremberg in the Reichelsdorf district . In the station (NNRF), the freight train track leading to the marshalling yard unwinds to the north. The S-Bahn stop (NNRE) is divided into station category 4 and has a central platform 145 m long and 96 cm high. It is served by the S-Bahn line S2 (Roth - Nuremberg - Altdorf) and is linked to the city bus lines 62 and 82. Further facilities include a P + R parking lot with 50 and a B + R parking lot with 38 spaces.
history
The station was built by the Royal Bavarian State Railways on April 1, 1849 , together with the opening of the Ludwig-Süd-Nord-Bahn section Nuremberg - Schwabach .
On October 24, 1929, a railway accident occurred here when two trains collided head- on because of a misinterpreted written driving order issued because of a construction site "driving on the wrong track" . Five dead and over 30 injured were the result.
For the third Nuremberg S-Bahn line, a separate S-Bahn line was built east of the existing tracks, which has two tracks between Reichelsdorf and Nuremberg-Eibach and crosses the existing road in a flyover structure. South of the train station in the direction of Roth it becomes single-track. A central platform with tracks 1 and 2 was built on it. The existing facilities for passenger traffic, a house platform at the entrance building to the west and a central platform were taken out of service on June 9, 2001, the day the Nuremberg - Roth S-Bahn line opened. The old platforms are still there, but can no longer be used. Access to the S-Bahn platform is via an underpass with access from both sides. Apart from the two main tracks of the S-Bahn line and the four through tracks in the station, there are no other side tracks. The station building is no longer used for railway purposes.
