The wet station is next to the breakpoint Feucht Ost and Feucht-Moosbach one of three train stations in central Franconia market wetland . The station forms a regional hub in the district of Nürnberger Land . Feucht station has been a pure S-Bahn station in the Nuremberg S-Bahn network since 2010 .

history

Feucht station was opened in 1871 with the commissioning of the (initially single-track) railway line from Nuremberg to Regensburg . This gave Feucht economic impetus.

The single- track Feucht – Altdorf line was opened in 1878, followed by the Feucht – Wendelstein line on August 1, 1886 . Between 1894 and 1896, the Nuremberg – Regensburg line was expanded by a second track and electrified in 1950.

From 1934 a munitions plant ( Muna ) was built in the Reichswald near Feucht , which also got its own rail connection from Feucht station. Large quantities of ammunition were processed and stored there.

During the Second World War , Feucht train station was also the target of several bomb attacks. After the war, the American bunkers and some ammunition stocks were blown up in the ammunition plant . In the summer of 1946, there were repeated forest fires, one of which on May 4, 1946, got out of control. A lot of ammunition and a freight train with 300 warheads of the V2 rockets exploded, 50 buildings were destroyed. The entire place was evacuated due to the danger of gas.

On May 22, 1955, passenger traffic on the branch line to Wendelstein was stopped. With the cessation of freight traffic in 1960, the entire line was dismantled except for a remnant of around 200 meters in length, which today still serves as a siding at Feucht station.

As part of the first construction phase of the Nuremberg S-Bahn , the Nuremberg – Feucht line was built parallel to the Nuremberg – Regensburg line and opened on November 21, 1992. At the same time, the Feucht – Altdorf railway line was integrated into the S-Bahn network.

In the course of the expansion of the S-Bahn network in December 2010 to include the route from Feucht to Neumarkt (Upper Palatinate) , the previously rarely used platform 2 (tracks 2 and 3) was upgraded to the standard requirements of the S-Bahn (140 meters long) and 76 centimeter high platforms with barrier-free access).

Infrastructure

Feucht train station has extensive tracks. Passenger traffic is handled on five platform tracks (one house and two middle platforms ). The S-Bahn in the direction of Nuremberg usually run from the outermost platform 5, towards Altdorf from platform 4 next to it and towards Neumarkt from platform 2. The house platform ( platform 1) and platform 3 are rarely used. There is also a through track , a butt track and a few side tracks. Operationally, these tracks are counted as 101 ff.

In 1980 the original, three-storey station building was demolished, today's single-storey station building is a simple, eaves-standing building with a gable roof , which has a canopy on the house platform . At the level of the east end of the platforms, there is a 1871-built linesman house . The two-storey, narrow sandstone block building with a flat saddle roof has been de-dedicated and is a listed building .

5 145 m 96 cm S-Bahn lines 2 & 3 in the direction of Nuremberg

There is a P + R area with over two hundred parking spaces to the north of the tracks. Behind it, in Nürnberger Straße, a stop has been set up for line 50 (Nuremberg Langwasser-Mitte - Feucht Am Reichswald), which is also served by the night buses of line N15. In the southern area, next to the reception building, there is a bus bay with a turning loop on which the bus routes 502 (Gsteinach - Feucht - Wendelstein Gymnasium) and 678 (Feucht - Schwabach) run.

business

Feucht is integrated into the Nuremberg Greater Nuremberg Transport Association (VGN). Since 2010, only S-Bahn trains have stopped at Feuchter Bahnhof. The Nuremberg central station is connected to the train reached in nine minutes (S3) or 16 minutes (S2). In the opposite direction you can reach the neighboring town of Altdorf with the S-Bahn line S2 , with the S-Bahn line S3 Burgthann and Neumarkt . While the S3 runs every 20/40 minutes, the S2 is only operated every 40 minutes. During the rush hour on weekdays, both lines are compressed to a 20-minute cycle, with some trips on the S2 already ending in Feucht during the day.

Stop at Feucht Ost

Feucht Ost S-Bahn station

The Feucht Ost stop (IBNR: 8001988) is on the Nuremberg – Regensburg railway line and was put into operation on December 12, 2010 as part of the expansion of the Nuremberg S-Bahn.

Feucht-Moosbach stop

On November 27, 1987, the single-track stop (IBNR: 8002520) was opened in the course of the second stage of the S-Bahn expansion of the Nuremberg S-Bahn and served by the previous local trains until it was taken over by the S2.

Hahnhof (abandoned)

The Hahnhof stop was in operation until November 27, 1987. It was abandoned in the course of the reconstruction of the route to a S-Bahn line and replaced by the Feucht-Moosbach stop, which is only a few hundred meters west of it, but is therefore much more favorable to the development of the place. The Hahnhof plants were dismantled after the closure.
