The Nuremberg Rothenburgerstrasse stop (also Nuremberg Rothenburger Strasse ) is on the Nuremberg – Bamberg railway line and is located in the west of Nuremberg in the Gostenhof district . It is divided into station category  5 and has a 165 meter long and 76 centimeter high side platform. The stop is served by the S-Bahn line S1 (Bamberg - Nuremberg - Hartmannshof) and is connected to the underground lines U2 and U3 at the Rothenburger Straße underground station .

history

The opening of the stop by the Royal Bavarian State Railways took place on October 1, 1894, with the start of suburban traffic towards Erlangen. In the 1980s, the platform was extended across the intersection with Rothenburger Straße to the entrance of the underground station and raised to 76 centimeters above the top of the rails . With the construction of the S-Bahn to Forchheim, another redesign of the stop took place. First of all, in 2009 two provisional makeshift platforms were built on the new tracks between Nuremberg Central Station and the Nuremberg Central Station Jansenbrücke junction, which were put into operation in May and June, and the old platform was taken out of service. At the end of October 2010, demolition work on the old platform and construction work on the elevator began. On November 6, 2010, due to the planned commissioning of additional infrastructure (new S-Bahn track, new Nuremberg - Fürth track) up to and including December 11th, the stopping point was discontinued on November 22nd and the temporary platforms were removed in the following days. The reopening of the platform on the new S-Bahn track was planned for December 17, 2010, but was not due to delays in the expansion until May 1, 2011.
