history

Reception building

The stop was opened, initially only for passenger traffic, on May 9, 1859 by the Bayerische Ostbahn AG together with the Nuremberg – Hersbruck section (left of the Pegnitz) of the Nuremberg – Schwandorf railway line. The handling of goods began in 1877, for which the track system was expanded and sidings to surrounding industrial companies were laid. Mögeldorf experienced a further upgrade with the opening of the eastern section of the Ringbahn (Mögeldorf / Ostbahnhof - Dutzendteich) on May 1, 1900. A single-track, non-electrified line in the direction of Nuremberg-Dutzendteich and Nuremberg marshalling yard begins here . The last redesign took place in connection with the construction of the first Nuremberg S-Bahn line between 1983 and September 26, 1987, a new central platform was built, which is barrier-free from the east with a ramp and accessible from the west via fixed stairs. The listed station building from 1858 and the also listed goods shed from 1877 were abandoned and sold by the railway. From March 21 to April 15, 2011, the platform was extended to 140 meters by structural measures in the eastern section, so that double units of the Talent 2 railcars can also stop.

Investments

In addition to the through tracks, there is a siding on the ring line and a siding north of the platform, from which a private siding branches off. All tracks used for other goods traffic (loading ramp and open loading track in the south) have been removed.

There is a P + R car park with 69 spaces to the north of the train station, and three B + R facilities with 108 spaces are available for cyclists.
