Railway stations in Rhineland-Palatinate |
The Pfeddersheim stop is a stop and former train station in the Pfeddersheim district of Worms . In addition to the main train station in Worms, it is one of two passenger stations in operation in the urban area of the Rhine-Hessian city of Worms . It is administered by the Mainz railway station management. The reception building is now a cultural monument .
history
The station building was built by the Hessian Ludwig Railway in 1884 as part of the construction of the Rheinhessenbahn . It shows a large reception building for the time, but still a typical size for medium-sized communities .
The three- storey building was built from sandstone blocks with a gently sloping gable roof . The building has also been designed axially with a raised central axis and a gable . The neoclassical building also features functional shapes with balanced proportions throughout. When the reception building was built, apartments were set up on the upper floor , and the rooms on the ground floor served as service and counter rooms.
In the following decades, a ground floor waiting room was added to the west . This was also done with a gable roof. In addition, a signal box was added to the station building in 1985 . This was again done with half-timbering . When the electronic interlocking Rheinhessen-Weinstrasse went into operation in 2004, the Pfeddersheim station was operationally dismantled to a stopping point. The intermediate platform that existed to date has been replaced by an outside platform on the southern track.
