The Baloise Holding AG is a Swiss insurance company with headquarters in Basel . The group acts as the Baloise Group . At the end of 2018, it employed around 7,200 people and is the third largest Swiss all-line insurance service provider for private individuals and companies.

history

The Basler insurance company against fire damage was founded in 1863 after the fire in Glarus , among others by the later chief of staff, Rudolf Paravicini . In 1864 the range of fire insurance was expanded to include life and transport insurance. In the following years, further insurance lines were added.

In 1962 the Bâloise Holding was founded.

Between 2015 and 2019, Basler Versicherung is building three new administration buildings on Baloise Park , including the 89 meter high Baloise skyscraper .

Group structure

The Baloise Group includes Basler Versicherungen Schweiz , the investment company Baloise Fund Invest (Lux) , various properties and Baloise Bank SoBa with its headquarters in Solothurn .

The Baloise Group is represented on the German market with its subsidiary " Basler Versicherungen ". There are also subsidiaries in Belgium (Baloise Insurance) and Luxembourg (Bâloise Assurances). In October 2013, the Serbia and Croatia business was sold to the Uniqa Insurance Group for € 75 million , thereby strengthening the existing business in these countries. The Austrian business was sold to Helvetia Versicherung in 2014.

The registered shares of Baloise Holding AG are listed on the SIX Swiss Exchange listed ; until September 2009 they were part of the Swiss Market Index (SMI).

Gert De Winter has been the Group's CEO since January 1, 2016, and the Executive Committee consists of five people. In addition to the CEO, these are Carsten Stolz (Head of Corporate Finance), Matthias Henny (Head of Asset Management), Thomas Sieber (Head of Corporate Center) and Michael Müller (Head of Switzerland). In April 2011, Andreas Burckhardt was elected President of the Board of Directors, replacing the long-standing President Rolf Schäuble , to whom the Board of Directors awarded the title of Honorary President.
