Barbara Frey (actress, 1955)
Barbara Frey , born Barbara Andrea Frey , also named Barbara A. Frey and Andrea Frey (born May 1, 1955 in Stuttgart ) is a German theater and television film actress.
Life
Barbara Frey spent her childhood in Stuttgart with her grandparents, after which she was a high school student in several schools and boarding schools. She studied from 1974 to 1977 with a degree in acting at the Stuttgart University of Music and Performing Arts . From 1977/78 she was a member of the ensemble at the Stadttheater Basel , Schauspiel Frankfurt , Thalia Theater Hamburg , Städtischen Bühnen Heidelberg , Staatliche Schauspielbühnen Berlin West until 1990.
She played her first theater role during her studies in 1976 at the Württemberg State Theater in Stuttgart , artistic director Claus Peymann , the sketch nurse in Sonny Boys by Neil Simon , directed by Guido Huonder . This was followed by Doris Biber in the Grips-Theater play at the Tübingen Landestheater. That can't be held in the head by Volker Ludwig .
Since 1976 there have been TV roles at WDR , u. a. in the live recording of Der treue Otto with Willy Millowitsch (as Andrea Frey), in Lemmi and the Schmöker and on SWF and SDR . She also financed her studies by acting as a television announcer twice a week in the afternoons at SDR Regional until the evening show, until she was forbidden to do so by her drama director Felix Teutoburg Müller.
For the 1977/78 season she was hired as a beginner by the artistic director Hans Hollmann and the dramaturge Klaus Völker at the Stadttheater Basel.
As a member of the ensemble, her inaugural role was Eve in Der zerbrochne Krug by Heinrich von Kleist , directed by Nicolas Brieger, and this production was discussed by Reinhard Stumm in the specialist magazine Theater Heute in issue 12, December 1977. In other roles in Basel she played a. a. Marianne in Tartuffe by Molière alongside Hilmar Thate as Tartuffe, directed by Bernard Sobel, and, directed by Horst Zankl, daughter Bertha in Der Vater von August Strindberg with Karlheinz Böhm in the title role.
In 1978/79 she followed Peter Palitzsch's call to the Schauspiel Frankfurt , Codetermination Theater. In his production, which was nominated for the Theater Treffen Berlin, The First Day of Peace, a four-person play by Horst Laube, she was the siblings with Burghart Klaußner as Icka and she played Bianca in the Peter Palitzsch production Othello by Shakespeare .
It was Hans Hollmann who brought her to the Thalia Theater Hamburg for his productions of Goethe's Faust I and Faust II 1979/80, whose director Boy Gobert she followed the following season to the Staatliche Schauspielbühnen Berlin in the Schillertheater , where she was a member of the ensemble until 1984 . Here she played u. a. the daughter Solange in the German. First performance Sonnenstaub by Raymond Roussel , staged by Hans Hollmann, which was discussed by Hanns Zischler in Theater heute , issue 7, July 1981.
In 1984/85 she was engaged by Peter Stoltzenberg at the Städtische Bühne Heidelberg, where she played the leading female role Helene in The Races by Ferdinand Bruckner, directed by Jossi Wieler and in his next production Was Ihr wollt by Shakespeare, alongside Ulrich Tukur was she who Maria was.
When she returned to Berlin, she engaged the artistic director Heribert Sasse at the Berlin State Theaters from 1987 to 1990 . Her roles there included the main role Phöbe Zeitgeist in Blood on the Neck of the Cat by Rainer Werner Fassbinder . This production by Claus Andre received second prize at the Edinburgh International Festival in 1988. a. the female lead Marie la Rousse in Posada by Walter Serner, directed by Thomas Reichert, and in the takeover with Heribert Sasse, Countess Juli Imperiali in The Conspiracy of Fiesko in Genoa by Friedrich Schiller .
In addition to the permanent engagements, she played as a guest a. 1985 in Berlin at the Komödie am Kurfürstendamm , 1985/1986 at the theater of the Freie Volksbühne West Katja in A Month in the Country by Iwan Turgenjew staged by Fred Berndt and at the Stadttheater Regensburg 1992/93 in Endstation Sehnsucht by Tennessee Williams the Stella, director Eberhard Itzenplitz . This was followed in 2003 in Scheselong Berlin / Moabit, Martha in Wer hat Angst vor Virginia Woolf by Edward Albee and in 2009 at the Brandenburg Theater several roles in Rolf Hochhuth's Wessis in Weimar and Moliere's Tartuffe staged by Christian Kneisel.
In August 2014 she played Lady Jennie Randolph Churchill at the BE Theater am Schiffbauerdamm in summer 14 by Rolf Hochhuth , who she also gave in 2010 at the Berlin Urania under the direction of the author. In addition to her theater work, she participated in 40 television productions, including a. Wolff's Revier , The Last Witness , Liebling Kreuzberg and The Dream Ship Norway .
Her first marriage was to the journalist and author Matthias Matussek until 1983, her second marriage to the actor Wolf Dieter Kabler and her third marriage until 1990 to the moving entrepreneur Klaus Zapf . She lives in Berlin and has had a son since 1990.
