Benjamin Büchel (born July 4, 1989 in Ruggell ) is a Liechtenstein football player . He's a goalkeeper .

Career

society

Büchel began his career in 1999 with the Liechtenstein club FC Ruggell . From 2006 to 2008 he was part of the first team squad. In the 2008/09 season he played for the Swiss club FC Widnau . Then he was three seasons goalkeeper at USV Eschen-Mauren . At the end of August 2012, the English third division AFC Bournemouth announced the commitment of Büchel after having previously completed a long trial training. He signed a six-month contract until the end of December 2012.

At AFC Bournemouth, Büchel was not used in the first team. Between 2013 and 2015 it was awarded to four different clubs. In July 2015 Büchel left the association. He was without a club until September 2015 before signing a contract with Oxford United. Between 2017 and 2018 he was under contract with the Swiss fourth division club FC Thalwil and had three missions there. For the 2018 season he moved to his home country for FC Vaduz , which currently plays in the Swiss Challenge League (second highest league). In the season 2019/20 Büchel captain of the team.

National team

Büchel has played regularly for the national teams of the Liechtenstein Football Association since 2005 . He made his debut in the Liechtenstein national football team on November 19, 2008, when he came on as a substitute for Peter Jehle in the 80th minute of the away game against Slovakia (0: 4) . After Jehle resigned, he took over the position of goalkeeper of the national team at the start of the UEFA Nations League in September 2018.
