Benno Franz Joseph Adalbert Hann von Weyhern (born January 22, 1798 in Helmsdorf , † July 19, 1873 in Görlitz ) was a Prussian lieutenant general .

Life

Benno was a son of the district brigadier in the Saxon gendarmerie Franz Hann von Weyhern (1771-1821) and his wife Christiane Sophie, née Lentzsch.

Military career

Hann von Weyhern joined the Saxon Army in mid-December 1812 and took part in the Battle of Leipzig and the battles at Pont à Bouvines and Courtray on the French side during the Wars of Liberation . On March 8, 1815, he transferred to the Prussian Army , was employed in the 1st Upper Saxon Landwehr Infantry Regiment and was promoted to Second Lieutenant at the beginning of September 1815 . In mid-March of the following year the 26th Infantry Regiment aggregated , Hann was transferred from Weyhern on 10 April 1816, the first battalion in the 3rd Guard Landwehr Regiment. As a prime lieutenant in 1818/19 he was in the topographic office and in 1824/26 he was in command of a company in the Lehr-Garde-Landwehr-Battalion. On March 30, 1826, while being promoted to captain, he was appointed company commander in the 22nd Infantry Regiment in Neisse . In mid-December 1837 he rose to major and was commander of the 1st battalion. In the same capacity he was from the end of March 1846 at the III. Battalion in the 23rd Landwehr Regiment and was promoted to lieutenant colonel on March 27, 1847 . On August 3, 1848, Hann von Weyhern was appointed commander of the 18th Infantry Regiment in Danzig and promoted to colonel on November 19, 1849 . This was followed by a position as commander of the 11th Infantry Brigade in Berlin from March 22, 1853 . A month later he was hired à la suite of his previous regiment and Hann von Weyhern was promoted to major general on July 13, 1854 . On April 2, 1857, he joined the War Ministry as director of the General War Department . Hann von Weyhern married Auguste Ludolfine Bertha von Kyaw (1807–1877) in Neisse on February 11, 1827 . She was the daughter of the Saxon chamberlain Johann Wilhelm August von Kyaw. The marriage remained childless.
