The vehicle was officially presented at NYIAS in mid-2006 , but was shown as a study earlier. The convertible is powered by the usual 412 kW (560 PS) strong 12-cylinder from the Bentley Continental GT (originally from the VW Phaeton W12 , but charged). It has air suspension and all-wheel drive and reaches a top speed of 312 km / h. The convertible has a traditional fabric roof that was manufactured by the specialist Karmann in Osnabrück .

GTC speed

In 2009 at the NAIAS in Detroit , the convertible series was expanded to include the more powerful Continental GTC Speed variant . The name suffix Speed is based on the legendary speed model of the founding years. In addition to the increase in performance, the GTC Speed has a slightly modified chassis, different wheels and a 3-spoke sports steering wheel. As part of the introduction of the GTC Speed , the series was subjected to a slight facelift with a modified front view. Above all, the engines of all Continental models have also been designed to be more efficient, with average fuel consumption falling by half a liter / 100 kilometers with unchanged performance.

At the IAA 2011, the second generation of the model now known as the GT Convertible was presented. This will be equipped with a new engine, which instead of the previous 412 kW now delivers 423 kW (575 hp). The sprint from 0 to 100 km / h takes 4.8 seconds and the top speed is 314 km / h. Outwardly, only slight changes were made, which can be seen primarily on the headlights. The new price for the luxury convertible should be around 202,000 euros. The first models have been delivered since December 2011.

Speed convertible

For the 2015 model year, the speed was again slightly revised. These innovations were presented at the Geneva Motor Show 2014. The car now has body parts painted as standard in the same color as the car, which until then were optional extras. In addition, like the GT V8 S, the rear lights are now tinted dark and the front headlights are also darkened. In addition, Bentley uses Speed logos on the fenders and in the interior of this model (fenders, dashboard, headrests). There are new exterior and interior colors and a new color division in the interior. The output of the W12 engine has been increased to 467 kW (635 hp).

Facelift 2015

At the Geneva Motor Show 2015, Bentley presented a slightly revised Continental series. The front section has been redesigned, featuring a new bumper with a modified design and a slightly modified radiator grille. The rear has also been redesigned, so you will find a new rear bumper and a new trunk lid. The chrome trim now covers the entire rear, similar to the Bentley Mulsanne (2009) . The side air outlets in the form of the "Flying B" are also new. New colors and new rim designs are available. In the interior, the steering wheel and the paddle shifters have been subtly changed, as has the seat design. The shift gate and the switches around it also received a slight revision. As a new option, Bentley will also be offering its customers a WiFi hotspot in the Continental. The V8 model also offers a new storage compartment in the rear, which is specially designed for iPads and also houses the corresponding connections. The output of the W12 has been increased to 434 kW (590 hp).

Continental supersports

In January 2017, Bentley presented the 522 kW (710 PS) Continental Supersports Convertible at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. With a top speed of 330 km / h, the vehicle is currently the fastest four-seater convertible in the world.

The first images of the third generation were published on November 26, 2018. The new Continental GTC was presented to the public at the LA Auto Show that same month. The first vehicles were delivered in May 2019.

The W12 petrol engine on offer is a further development of the Bentayga engine and, with 467 kW (635 hp), has just as much output as the Continental GT. The new Continental GTC accelerates to 100 km / h in 3.8 seconds, and Bentley has a top speed of 333 km / h. A V8 petrol engine with 404 kW (550 PS) followed at the end of 2019. Like the previous models, the new Continental GTC again has a fabric roof.

The Bentley Bacalar , which was presented at the beginning of March 2020 and limited to twelve copies, has only the door handles in common with it, despite its visual similarity to the Continental GTC.

Special models

On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Bentley brand, the special model Number 1 Edition , limited to 100 copies, was presented in June 2019 . The special model pays homage to the Blower Bentley from 1929.

In February 2020 Bentley presented the model in a version of the house refiner Mulliner as a particularly luxuriously designed model.
