Bergüner Stocks ( Rhaeto-Romanic Pizs da Bravuogn ) is a mountain group west of the village of Bergün / Bravuogn and east of Savognin . The three most striking peaks of the group are Piz Ela ( 3339  m above sea level ), Corn da Tinizong / Tinzenhorn ( 3173  m above sea level ) and Piz Mitgel ( 3159  m above sea level ), three peaks that are rarer Beauty in form and imposing shape. They are among the most striking in Graubünden and the most comprehensive viewpoints in Central Grisons. The rock quality of the Bergüner sticks is only mediocre, which is one of the reasons that all the main peaks in the area are reserved for alpinists.

Geographical location

The Bergüner sticks belong to the Albula Alps . The ridge runs in an east-west direction and is delimited as follows: in the east and north by the Albula valley , in the west by the Oberhalbstein and in the south by the Val d'Err (a side valley of the Oberhalbstein), by the Val Mulix (a side valley of the Albula valley) and from the Fuorcla da Chitta (the pass that connects the two valleys).

Natural park

The Bergünerstocks form the center of Parc Ela . This comprises 19 municipalities and is the largest nature park in Switzerland. At Piz Ela, Tinzenhorn and Piz Mitgel, fossilized dinosaur footprints were found.

Mountaineering

The Ela Hut , Promastgel and Plang la Curvanera are the starting points for many mountain routes . The parking lot just below Promastgel at 1625  m above sea level. M. can be reached from Cunter via La Vischnanchetta, Muntschect Dafora. A little road from Savognin via Tussagn leads to the Plang la Curvanera car park ( 1893  m above sea level ) . The alpine road from Tinizong into the Val d'Err is closed to general motor vehicle traffic. A hiking bus runs from Savognin to Plang la Curvanera on Wednesdays and to Pensa on Tuesdays and Fridays.

All major peaks are reserved for alpinists. In addition, the peaks with their sharp rock ridges are no destinations for ski tourists.

A well-known hike or ski tour for less experienced mountaineers is the Ela round tour. The two-day tour begins in Bergün ( 1367  m ) or Filisur ( 1032  m ) and leads to the Ela Hut ( 2252  m ) on the first day . On the second day the tour leads over the Pass d'Ela ( 2724  m ), past the mountain lakes Lai Mort and Lai Grond to Fuorcla da Tschitta ( 2830  m ) and then to Preda ( 1789  m ). The tour lasts 3½ - 4½ hours on the first and 5 hours on the second day and the difficulty B .

The different routes to the peaks are described for the individual mountains.
