Berg is a suburb of the large district town of Ehingen (Danube) in the Alb-Danube district in Baden-Württemberg .

history

Around the years 1110/1120, the Counts von Berg , who gave the place its name and were among the most respected and powerful count families in Swabia, are recorded. These were later divided into the two lines Berg-Schelklingen and the Margraves of Burgau from the house of the Counts of Berg. Their castle stood on the hill behind the church and was supposed to protect the crossing over the Danube.

The Burgweiler developed into a village in the course of the Middle Ages. In 1343 the place came to Austria with the lords of Berg, Ehingen and Schelklingen . In the course of its further history, Berg was pledged several times - around 1681 to Count Schenk von Castell . They received the Berg rule as a fief in 1732 . Until 1805 the place was incorporated into the Swabian knighthood .

Today's part of Ehingen is already referred to as a parish in 1275 , but it was later incorporated into Kirchbierlingen. The chapel is dedicated to St. Ulrich of Augsburg . It essentially dates from the 18th century. One of several previous buildings is said to have been built by Pope Leo IX in 1052 . have been consecrated. The Ernsthof residential area belonging to Berg was first mentioned as Ernshoven around 1290 .

The place was incorporated into Ehingen on May 1, 1972 and forms one of 17 districts. The mayor is currently Philipp Lämmle.

Berg has a bridge over the Danube ( Bundesstrasse 465 ).
