Mountain running world championships 2010
The 26th World Mountain Running Championships (26th World Mountain Running Championships) of the World Mountain Running Association (WMRA) found on 5. September 2010 in the Slovenian town of Kamnik instead. They consisted of four competitions that led to the Velika Planina. The men covered a course of 12 km in length with a net ascent of 1220 meters (1295 m uphill and 75 m downhill). The women and juniors started over a distance of 8.5 km with a net increase of 960 meters in altitude (1035 m uphill and 75 m downhill) and the juniors over a distance of 4.5 km with a net increase of 420 meters in altitude (430 m uphill and 10 m downhill).
Athletes who were at least 18 years old on December 31, 2010 were admitted to the senior competitions, and those who were between 16 and 19 years old on December 31, 2010 were eligible for the junior competitions.
In all competitions there was a team ranking in which the placements of the top four for men, the top three for women and juniors and the two best runners from each nation for juniors were added up.
39 countries took part in the world championships, more than ever before.
