The Bergrutsch am Kirchsteig near Urbach nature reserve is located in the municipality of Urbach in Baden-Württemberg .
Characteristics
The area was designated as a nature reserve under the protection area number 1272 by ordinance of the Stuttgart regional council of May 7, 2008. The CDDA code is 389577 and corresponds to the WDPA ID .
Location and description
On April 7, 2001, around 70,000 cubic meters of rock and earth slipped over a width of 240 meters on an orchard slope on the Kirchsteig above Urbach, and the terrain sagged up to 17 meters. The protected area is located northeast of Urbach above the Kirchsteigobel on a south-west exposed slope on the edge of the Welzheimer Forest. It is completely enclosed by the landscape protection area Schornbach, Wieslauf, Urbach and Bärenbachtal with adjacent heights and Sünchenberg and also belongs to the bird protection area orchards and vineyards between Geradstetten, Rudersberg and Waldhausen . The protected area is located in the natural area 107- Schurwald and Welzheimer Wald within the natural spatial main unit 10- Swabian Keuper-Lias-Land .
Protection purpose
According to the Protected Area Ordinance, the main protection purpose is the preservation of the geomorphological treasure trove created by gravitational mass displacement as a particularly worthy of protection geotope for scientific, natural history and didactic reasons, because of its special characteristics, characteristics and rarity as well as because of its importance for the landscape in connection with its local history.
