The Lower Remstal nature reserve lies in the area of ​​the cities of Remseck am Neckar ( Ludwigsburg district ) and Waiblingen ( Rems-Murr district ) in Baden-Württemberg .

The area extends along the Rems, not far east of the Neckar, southeast of the core town of Neckarrems . The L 1140 state road runs to the north, the L 1142 to the west - partly on the western edge - and the B 14 to the east .

For Remseck am Neckar and Waiblingen, an area of ​​158.3 hectares has been designated as a nature reserve since April 6, 1987 under the identification number 1.149. It is a valley cut deep into the shell limestone with meanders , mixed deciduous forests on the slopes, naturally settled forests on former vineyard terraces , remains of alluvial forests, riparian wooded areas, meadows, wetlands , areas with steppe heather character . The slope terracing is historically significant. The area is a valuable space for quiet and gentle local recreation and nature observation.
