Roter Rain and the surrounding area is a nature reserve in the area of the Baden-Württemberg city of Vaihingen an der Enz.
Characteristics
The nature reserve was designated by ordinance of the Stuttgart Regional Council of June 25, 1984 and has a size of around 8.6 hectares. It is listed under the protected area number 1.122. The CDDA code for the nature reserve is 165230 and corresponds to the WDPA ID .
Location and description
The protected area is located on a bulging slope of the Enz between the Vaihingen districts of Mühlhausen and Roßwag . It is located in the natural area 123- Neckar basin within the natural spatial main unit 12- Gäuplatten in the Neckar and Tauberland . It connects directly to the NSG 2233 Felsengärten Mühlhausen and is also part of the FFH area No. 7018.342 Enztal near Mühlacker and the bird sanctuary No. 7019-441 Enztal Mühlhausen - Roßwag .
Protection purpose
According to the Protected Area Ordinance, the main protection purpose is the preservation of the steppe heather vegetation with mosaic-like site conditions (open areas, bushes, light pine forest) on the former sheep pasture "Roter Rain". The aim is to safeguard the characteristic flora and fauna and to maintain the extensive uses while preserving existing hedges, woodlands and meadow meadows. Furthermore, parcels and parts of parcels that are no longer used should be left to the natural growth process.
