The Morgensand and Seelachen nature reserve is located in the area of the town of Schorndorf and the municipality of Urbach in Baden-Württemberg .
Characteristics
The area was designated as a nature reserve under the protection area number 1151 by ordinance of the Stuttgart regional council of June 10, 1987. The CDDA code is 164693 and corresponds to the WDPA ID .
location
The nature reserve is located between Schorndorf and Urbach in the Rems floodplain . It is limited to the north by federal highway 29 . It is partially enclosed by the 108.7-hectare conservation area Remsaue with lens mount and also part of the FFH area Welzheimer forest . The protected area is located in the natural area 107- Schurwald and Welzheimer Wald within the natural spatial main unit 10- Swabian Keuper-Lias-Land .
Protection purpose
The main protection purpose is the preservation and promotion of a diverse habitat in the Rems valley floodplain with a section of its course, the near-natural meandering lower course of the Wieslauf, several quarry ponds as well as meadow, woody and succession areas and the preservation of the existing flora and fauna that will settle in the future against impairments and disturbances of all kinds.
