Bernardino Fungai (* 1460 in Siena , † 1516 in Siena) was an Italian painter who painted in the style of the Siena School .

Life

He was baptized as Bernardino Cristofano di Nicholo d'Antonio di Pietro da Fonghaia . His name also appears in the spelling Bernardino Fungài . He probably learned his craft around 1482 from Benvenuto di Giovanni . Other influences seem to come from Matteo di Giovanni , Stefano di Giovanni Sassetta and Giovanni di Paolo . Giacomo Pacchiarotti was one of his students . Fungai first appeared in the early 1490s when he was making frescoes in the dome of the Siena Cathedral . Later influences on the artistic work are attributed to Francesco di Giorgio , the Perugino , Pinturicchio and Luca Signorelli .
