Berthold Huber (born October 9, 1963 in Heidelberg ) is a German manager. From 2010 to 2015 he was CEO of DB Fernverkehr . Since 2015 he has been the board member for passenger transport at Deutsche Bahn.

Life

Huber studied political science and then worked as a management consultant for Ernst & Young . In 1997 he switched to Deutsche Bahn . In passenger transport, he initially headed the organizational units on-board services and regional services. In 2001 he took over the HR department of DB Regio Bavaria . In addition to the personnel department, he was also responsible for regional traffic in southern Bavaria . In May 2003 Huber took over the chairmanship of DB Regio Bayern; at the same time, he was managing director of regional transport in Upper Bavaria . In 2008 he became the Board Member for Human Resources at DB Netz AG.

On November 12, 2010 he was appointed CEO of DB Fernverkehr. On August 1, 2015, he was appointed board member for passenger transport at Deutsche Bahn AG. He is responsible for regional and long-distance traffic, i.e. the largest part of German railways. Until August 26, 2016, he also performed this function for the (now dissolved) DB Mobility Logistics AG . Huber's successor as a board member of DB Fernverkehr was Birgit Bohle .

With the resolution of the Supervisory Board on March 22, 2017, he received a new five-year contract. On January 1, 2020, he will hand over the vehicle maintenance division to Sabina Jeschke .

In his function as Group Management Board member, according to the assessment of the legal committee of DB, Huber signed, contrary to his duty, a consulting contract with his predecessor Homburg, in the context of which 171,000 euros were paid out. The Supervisory Board then decided in mid-December 2019 that Huber would have to give up part of his bonuses for the current year.

Huber is married and has four children. His uncle is the Protestant theologian Wolfgang Huber . His grandfather was the lawyer Ernst Rudolf Huber , his father Ulrich Huber taught as a lawyer at the University of Bonn .
