2005

The district representative election in Vienna 2005 was carried out on October 23, 2005 and held together with the 2005 state and municipal council elections. For the first time, people aged 16 and over were allowed to vote. In the election, the Social Democratic Party of Austria (SPÖ) was able to expand its majority of votes by 2.0% to 47.7% and defend its majority in 16 district representatives. As a result, the SPÖ continued to provide the district chief in 16 districts and obtained a deputy district chief in the six of the seven remaining districts, where it had become the second largest party. The Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ), on the other hand, lost 5.3% and only achieved fourth place with 13.9% after having become the second strongest party in the 2001 district council election . As a result of the losses, the FPÖ lost eight deputy district heads and since the 2005 election has only provided deputy district heads in five districts. The Austrian People's Party (ÖVP) gained 1.3% in the 2005 district council elections, but lost its claim to district chairman to Die Grünen Wien (GRÜNE) in the Josefstadt district after it had entered into an electoral alliance with the Josefstadt Citizens' Forum. In return, the ÖVP was able to hold its majority in five districts and continue to provide the district head there. In addition, she achieved second place in six districts, removing the FPÖ's claim to the district chairman's deputy in five districts. The Greens gained 2.4% and, with 15.7%, came third for the first time. In addition to the Neubau district, they were also able to achieve a relative majority in Josefstadt for the first time. Furthermore, the Greens came in second place in five districts, removing three deputy district heads from the FPÖ and two from the ÖVP.

While the SPÖ, FPÖ and Greens were able to move into the district representation in all districts, the ÖVP only appeared in 22 districts. In Josefstadt, the ÖVP had formed an electoral alliance with the Bürgerforum Josefstadt list and started as the PRO Josefstadt list , which took second place in Josefstadt. Of the other candidate parties, only the Communist Party of Austria (KPÖ) was able to move into two districts and the Bündnis Zukunft Österreich (BZÖ) in one district, each with a mandate for district representation. In addition, the www list in the Wieden district and the PRO Hetzendorf list in the Meidling district each received one mandate.
