Białka Tatrzańska is a village in the rural municipality of Bukowina Tatrzańska in the Powiat Tatrzański in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship in southern Poland . It is located on the Białka Mountain River and the DK 49 expressway . The village is eight kilometers long and consists of three parts Grapa, Kaniówka and Pod Grapą. It is a health resort at the foot of the High Tatras with numerous ski areas and the Terma Bania thermal bath .

history

The village was laid out around 1616. Alpine pastures in the High Tatras also belonged to the village . a. on the Meerauge mountain lake and on the Wołoszyn massif . Already in the 19th century the place developed from an agricultural village into a health resort. The poet Hanka Nowobielska worked in Białka . From 1975 to 1998 the village belonged to the now defunct Nowy Sącz Voivodeship . Białka is known in Poland for its folklore band Białcanie.

Attractions

The 17th century wooden church of Saints Simon and Jude Taddeus is part of the Lesser Poland Trail of Wooden Architecture Heritage. The church's baroque furnishings have been preserved inside. Masses are also read in Latin.

In the high season, Białka regularly has up to three times more tourists than residents. The tourist infrastructure is well developed.

On June 16, 2011, the Terma Bania thermal baths opened in Białka. With a water basin of 1,382.67 m², it is one of the largest thermal baths in Poland. The 72 degrees Celsius warm water is extracted from a 2,500 m deep borehole. The thermal baths also include a sauna area, a ski area and a four-star hotel.

White water kayaking and rafting are practiced on the Białka River and paragliding on the surrounding hills.
