The church, dedicated to St. Peter in chains, was probably built in the Romanesque style at the end of the 11th century . The floor plan of the apse with two apsidioles , the interlocking at the corners of the wall and the lack of vaults suggest this dating. It was built with a small masonry bond made of Garluche, the iron-rich sandstone of the Landes, on a site that was already inhabited in earlier times. The apsidioles were probably provided with a vault in the 14th century. In the 19th century the transept was changed, the walls of the nave were lowered, the windows reworked, the upper part of the stair tower restored and the vestibule to the west was built. The nave has a main nave, which is extended by a semicircular choir . The apsidioles are connected to the transept, which opens to the main nave via a round arch. In the west a bell gable rises from the facade, to which a round stair tower adjoins in the northern corner, the entrance of which shows a sloping reveal . The entrance door and the windows of the church are designed in the shape of a round arch except for the windows in the longitudinal axes of the apsidioles and two openings in the east wall of the transept. The apse and apsidioles have a cauldron vault that extends under the window. The church has been inscribed as a Monument historique since January 17, 1997 .

The entire equipment of the church from the time of the Ancien Régime was probably lost in the turmoil of the French Revolution . The main and side altars, kept in the classical style, were added in the first half of the 19th century. In 1982, wall paintings from the 14th, 15th and 17th centuries were discovered under the paint on the walls of the choir, the southern apse-idole and the nave . The depiction in the apsidiole from the 14th century shows the coronation of Mary in heaven and probably in a fragment the Annunciation to the shepherds . Mary has folded her hands and is crowned by Christ , who is seated on a throne to her right, holding a book. Two angels worshiping complete this scene. In the other picture, an angel holds a banner and speaks to three shepherds in the midst of their flock of sheep. The painting on the vault of the apse from the 14th century probably showed Christ as Majestas Domini in a mandorla with the evangelist symbols in lunettes . Of these symbols, the winged man from Matthew , the eagle from John and the bull from Luke can still be recognized. On the north wall of the apse, a fragment from the same period shows parts of a representation of Christ and his apostles during the Lord's Supper . To the left and right of the window in the longitudinal axis of the apse, two full-length people are shown in front of a red background with white four-petalled flowers. The one on the left is a bearded apostle who carries a book and is sometimes identified as Saint Peter, patron saint of the Church. The right person, on the other hand, undoubtedly represents the apostle Andrew , recognizable by his X-shaped St. Andrew's cross . Paintings from the late 15th and 17th or 18th centuries represent mock masonry , which partially cover the works from the 14th century. Five glass windows are works by the glass painter Henri Feur from Bordeaux, which were created in 1882. They represent full-figure Saint Paul with a sword and Peter with a key.

Source of Sainte Ruffine

The source, dedicated to an early Christian martyr , is not far from the church and is at the same time inscribed with it as a monument historique . It is protected by a small building engraved with the year "1831". The last procession to this spring took place on July 10, 1956. An excavation carried out in 1976 uncovered a large number of coins in the fountain bowl, the oldest of which date from the Second Empire . The water is said to have healing powers for skin diseases and inflammation. Local custom called for the undershirt to be washed by the mothers of the families, who then left them in the church.
