The educational center St. Konrad Ravensburg and Weingarten (named after St. Konrad von Konstanz ) in Ravensburg on the border with Weingarten is a school center that includes a kindergarten , a primary and technical secondary school , a secondary school and a general high school . The lessons are based on the Marchtal curriculum .
Since August 1st, 2020 the "Schulstiftung Bildungszentrum St. Konrad Ravensburg" has been responsible. Until then it was the association "Katholisches Schulwerk Ravensburg / Weingarten e.V." organized parents of the students.
history
After the abolition of public denominational schools in Baden-Württemberg , the “Ash Wednesday Act” of February 8, 1967 created the legal basis for establishing private denominational schools.
Since many parents wanted their children to continue to be taught in a Catholic school, in May 1967, at the suggestion of his later 1st chairman, Ravensburger lawyer Erwin Besenfelder, the sponsoring association was set up under the name of “Freie Katholisches Modellschulwerk Ravensburg / Weingarten e. V. “founded.
The city of Ravensburg left a 1.2 hectare building plot to the association, and the state of Baden-Württemberg assured that it would cover the costs. The site was on the former Burachhof, which was acquired by the Jewish couple Ludwig and Fanni Erlanger in 1924 and has been managed since then. Their son Peter was born in 1926 and their daughter Suse two years later. After 1933 the Burachhof Jewish youths served to prepare for the Youth Aliyah to Hachshara . In 1938 the family was expropriated and the farm fell to the city of Ravensburg. The family fled to Israel in the moschav Shitufi Shawe Zion .
In May 1968, the structural work of the Oberschwabenschule began. On September 15, 1969, teaching began with 420 students from grades 1 to 6 in 12 school classes and 12 teachers on the construction site.
On November 7, 1970, Bishop Carl Joseph Leiprecht inaugurated the completed building of the "Oberschwabenschule". In the same year the kindergarten, at that time still as a preschool , started its work. In 1972 the Realschule and the Gymnasium started teaching in makeshift wooden barracks . In autumn 1975 they moved into their new building.
The primary school was able to move into its new building in 1976. On November 26th, 1976, the 1001st anniversary of the death of Bishop Konrad von Konstanz, Bishop Georg Moser consecrated the educational center under the name “Bildungszentrum St. Konrad”.
The new sports and festival hall was inaugurated on March 5, 2004. On September 13, 2006, in the presence of the son of the evicted family, Pinchas Erlanger , his wife Elma and their grandson Roi and great-grandson Ejal, the name "Dr.-Ludwig-und-Fanni-Erlanger-Halle" was given.
On this day, the Cologne artist Gunter Demnig laid a stumbling stone in front of the entrance to the hall for each evicted family member of the Erlangers .
Catholic Free Kindergarten
Divided into four groups, around 100 children attend the kindergarten. The upbringing is carried out according to the Marchtal kindergarten plan.
