The Clinton National Airport (short- Clinton National Airport , formerly Little Rock National Airport ) is a regional airport in the southeast of Little Rock , capital of Arkansas , opened in 1931 , officially called "Adams Field" ( IATA abbreviation will look great LIT, ICAO Label KLIT).
Located south of the Arkansas River , the airport is the largest in the state and has three runways.
In 2012 the airport was renamed “ Bill and Hillary Clinton National Airport”. Before that it was called Little Rock National Airport .
Location and transport links
Bill and Hillary Clinton National Airport is three miles southeast of downtown Little Rock. The Interstate 440 runs south of the airport. Interstate 30 also runs west of the airport , which shares the route with US Highways 65 , 67 and 167 at Little Rock .
The Bill and Hillary Clinton National Airport is connected to the local public transport by buses , the Route 12 of the Rock Region Metro connects it regularly with the city center.

Bill and Hillary Clinton National Airport is used by Allegiant Air , American Airlines / American Eagle , Delta Air Lines / Delta Connection , Frontier Airlines , Southwest Airlines , United Express and Via Airlines . Incidents
To date, three incidents have occurred at the airport:
- 1948, in which, however, the passengers were unharmed
- June 1, 1999; a McDonnell Douglas MD-82 got off the runway during a thunderstorm and hit a crash barrier behind the airport , killing 11 out of 145 people.
- On July 28, 1999, an employee of the ground crew was killed when he ran into the running propeller blade of a regional machine of the type ATR 42-500 of the Continental Express , which had just arrived from Houston (see also Continental Express flight 3402 ) .
