Bings (also: Bludenz-Bings, 614  m above sea level ) is a district of the municipality of Bludenz in Vorarlberg ( Austria ). The place is about 2 km as the crow flies from the city limits of Bludenz and borders directly on the municipality of Stallehr in the Montafon , whereby the Alfenz forms part of the natural municipality boundary. Like the Bludenz districts of Ausserbraz and Radin , Bings is part of the Klostertal and not, like the city of Bludenz, part of the Walgau . Bings is divided into upper and lower bings. The St. Leonhard Rotte is about 800 m as the crow flies from the Bings Church (Oberbings) .

Bings had 151 residential buildings and 404 residents (2011). In 1787, only 16 houses with 75 inhabitants were counted in the district of Bings. Mayor is Edmund Jenny.

church

The listed parish church of the Holy Trinity is the only Roman Catholic church in the district of Bings. The residents of Bings are predominantly Roman Catholic.

Bings and Stallehr have formed their own parish vicarie since 1948 and their own parish since 1956 (see also: List of parishes in the Bludenz-Sonnenberg deanery ).

Elementary school

The primary school Oberbings No. 16 is right next to the parish church. The fresco over the entrance is from Hubert Fritz , who is also the frescoes on the chancel arch of the church Bings , the Sanctuary of the Nativity of Mary (Stallehr) and John of Nepomuk Church (Lorüns) partially constructed and the fresco Duke Frederick V of Austria in City Museum Bludenz created. Currently (2019/20) there are plans for a new building next to the school building for childcare.

traffic

The main road that runs along the northern edge of the village, parallel to the Arlbergbahn , is the L97 state road (Klostertalerstraße). Bings can be reached from the S16 ( Arlberg Schnellstraße ) via its own exit (together with Stallehr). Similar to Bludenz and Stallehr, Bings is exposed to considerable noise pollution due to its proximity to the busy, motorway-like S 16. (For details, see the Bludenz article )

Bings is also located directly on the Arlbergbahn . The district received its own ÖBB train station on August 15, 1908 , but since regional train traffic in Klostertal was discontinued in 2010, no passenger trains have stopped there. The breakpoint itself had been vacant since December 13, 1977. Instead, the place is served with the regional bus route 90, which connects the places in Klostertal with Bludenz, sometimes every half hour. In the tariff regulations of the Vorarlberg transport association, Bings is part of the Bludenz tariff zone as well as the Braz tariff zone.

Population development

The population development in Bings has fluctuated over the centuries:

economy

There are three larger companies in Bings: the Sika company (manufacturing building materials), the Manahl company (manufacturing aluminum elements), and the Terratec company (agricultural machinery). There are also several farms in the village, mainly with dairy farming and milk processing.

fire Department

The fire station of the volunteer fire brigade Bings-Stallehr (as the name suggests, this also serves Stallehr) is to be rebuilt west of the Bings settlement, close to the S 16. The reason is the limited space in the existing building in the middle of town. On the other hand, accidents or vehicle fires on the S 16 repeatedly require the fire brigade to be deployed.
