Radin ( 678 m above sea level ) is a district of the municipality of Bludenz in Vorarlberg ( Austria ).
topography
The place is about three kilometers as the crow flies from the city limits of Bludenz. It is divided into Oberradin (main settlement, 690 m above sea level ) and Unterradin about 300 meters away ( 665 m above sea level ). In the west, Radin borders - separated by the Spannerbach from the Grubser Tobel - on St. Leonhard and in the east on Ausserbraz , both of which are further parts of the community of Bludenz. Radin, like the Bludenz districts of Bings, St. Leonhard and Ausserbraz, belongs to the Klostertal and not like the city of Bludenz to the Walgau .
Radin has 145 inhabitants. In 1787, 11 houses with 58 inhabitants were counted in the Radin district.
The name Radin is said to come from "Ratin" (Latin: slope). In the Middle Ages there was a forge in Radin, which is mentioned in a document in 1544.
religion
The parish of Radin is looked after by the parish Herz Mariä, Bludenz, together with Bings, St. Leonhard and Stallehr .
A section of the Jakobsweg Landeck – Einsiedeln , which leads through Vorarlberg, the Klostertal and the Walgau , runs via Innerbraz - Ausserbraz - Oberradin - St. Leonhard to Bludenz.
traffic
Part of the Arlbergbahn line runs between Oberradin and Unterradin . However, Radin does not have its own ÖBB train station.
The main road that leads directly through Oberradin is the state road L97 (Klostertalerstraße). Radin cannot be reached from the S16 ( Arlberg Schnellstraße ) via its own exit.
Alfenz
From Innerbraz to Unterradin, the Alfenz still flows largely naturally and unobstructed as a mountain river and with several splits of the main body of water. The dynamics of the river can expand into extensive gravel surfaces and gravel corridors and deposit sand , silt and gravel (Alfenzauen). Willow bushes , gray alders and different types of riparian forest are predominant.
However, due to water discharge for use in power plants, the Alfenz is almost continuously a residual water section. At Unterradin there is a water reservoir with around 150,000 m 2 , which is used for the Alfenz power plant.
Population development
The population development in Radin has fluctuated over the centuries:
