Birchot ha-Shachar ( Hebrew בִּרְכוֹת הַשַּׁחַר; Eng. "Blessings at Dawn") is a Jewish prayer that is recited at the beginning of the morning prayer .

description

The prayer consists of a series of blessings , which are recited at the beginning of the chacharit and before Akedah and Korbanot . The blessings represent thanksgiving to God for the renewal of a day. The order of the blessings is not defined by the Halacha and can vary in each siddur . Prayer is based on the order of common activities after getting up.

The blessings

  • The benediction of Netilat Jadajim ( Hebrew נְטִילַת יָדַיִם) for the ritual washing of the hands follows ritual impurity.
  • Ascher Jazzar ( Hebrew אֲשֶׁר יָצַר אֶת הָאָדָם בְּחָכְמָה וּבָרָא בוֹ נְקָבִים נְקָבִים חֲלוּלִים) is usually presented after using the toilet .
  • In the section Elohai neshama ( Hebrew אֱלֹהַי נְשָׁמָה שֶׁנָּתַתָּ בִּי טְהוֹרָה אַתָּה בְרָאתָהּ אַתָּה יְצַרְתָּהּ אַתָּה נְפַחְתָּהּ בִּי) God is thanked for the return of the soul. When you sleep, the soul leaves the body. This condition is called "half death". After awakening, the body is reunited with the soul.
  • The Birchot haThora ( Hebrew בִּרְכוֹת הַתּוֹרָה) contains some blessings for Torah study . Before that, it is forbidden to study the Torah. One of the blessings for studying the Torah is identical to the blessing that is said when someone is called to an alijah .
