Psalm 30
The 30th psalm (according to Greek counting the twenty-ninth) is a psalm of David , which was written as a song of thanksgiving for the dedication of the temple.
structure
The psalm can be divided into the following sections:
- Verse 1 ( EU ): heading
- Verses 2-4 ( EU ): Praise YHWH as a saving God
- Verses 4-6 ( EU ): Call to the Saints to praise YHWH
- Verses 6-8 ( EU ): Confession of pride
- Verses 8-11 ( EU ): repetition of requests and thanks
interpretation
CH Spurgeon relates this psalm to the dedication of the sacrificial place for the temple after 2 Sam 24 EU , 1 Chr 21 EU .
Liturgical use
Judaism
Psalm 30 occurs in the daily Jewish morning prayer, the Shacharit , and opens the Psuke desimra .
