Psalm 57
The 57th Psalm is a Psalm of David and was sung to the tune "Do not spoil!" ( Ps 57.1 SLT ). This melody is also used in Psalm 58 ( Ps 58.1 SLT ), Psalm 59 ( Ps 59.1 SLT ) and Psalm 75 ( Ps 75.1 SLT ).
structure
The psalm can be divided into the following sections:
- Verses 2–7: David strengthens himself in prayer ( Ps 57,2–7 SLT )
- Verses 8-12: David expresses his newfound confidence ( Ps 57.8-12 SLT )
Dating
The first verse ( Ps 57.1 SLT ) shows that this psalm was written in the time of 1 Sam 24 SLT . Also the Psalm 142 SLT was most likely written during this period.
